Syringa microphylla 'Superba' Lilac. Starts blooming when its only a foot tall. Often used in hedges planted two feet apart. Will present an occasional flower or two throughout summer after a massive display in spring. Sensational fragrance. Ive seen it 5 feet tall but its easily maintained much shorter by shearing it back after the spring flowering. Hardy to at least zone 4.
