I take pictures of the flower, structure (the shrub in the pot), fruit (green in this picture but I take additional pictures later in the year that show the color change) fall foliage and inventory label of each plant we grow. When I insert them into a web page such as this one I place the file name directly above each picture. The file name usually includes the date the picture was taken (080708 or August 7, 2008), what's in the picture (Rosa moyesii 'Geranium' hips or fruit), the inventory number (10517 or other number if its unknown) and an add on number that lets me have multiple pictures of each. Pictures of flowers, fruit, fall foliage and more of a variety of plant we grow if clicked on will either open a larger picture or take you to a page with a collection of pictures of that variety.

Potential customers subscribe and receive an email link to the newsletter the day the pictures were taken in order to be notified when the plants they are interested in are in bloom. We wont sell our plants until they start to bloom, though you can purchase after they've started blooming based on a picture in the newsletter with an inventory number (plants that are flowering prove what they are and are well out of dormancy). As plants sell I highlight the inventory number in red in our catalog. People come to the plant sale right after seeing a plant in bloom in our newsletter so they can have more choice over those who get there later or those who would purchase mail order. Our mail order plants are sent out after the plant sale is over (so they choose a plant based entirely on the newsletter).

I try to limit my comments as much as possible but my subscribers can always ask questions that I will try to answer as completely as possible.
