VOL 19 NOVEMBER 12, 2008 6 Pictures.

Don has gone back to LA and I haven't been able to get any help. So, I'm working a couple hours a day just short of my back giving out, preparing for winter. This first picture shows 'Andenken an Ludwig Spaeth' Lilac in the upper field. Clicking on any of these pictures should open one thats about half a megabyte file size that you can save as wallpaper if you want.

This next picture shows the Belgian Fence that I designed in 1991. The owner did most of the work while I supervised telling her what to do and doing the pruning for the first several years until she was able to do it herself. Pruning actually only takes about an hour a year for the entire thing.

Below is a picture showing my two trucks. The green one is a 1978 Dodge D150 with a 225 slant 6 engine and a three speed standard transmission (3 on the tree) that gets 25 miles per gallon. I ordered this from the factory in 1978, the first new vehicle I'd ever bought and its still my favorite. I have been removing it from the road in winter since around 1990 to help prolong its life. The red truck is a 1997, 4 wheel drive with a 360 V8 and automatic transmission. It allows us to pull heavy trailers on and off road. The box is usually filled with mulch or soil. This is kept on the road all year. Our trailer is also stored in the barn for the winter.

Below is a picture of the unheated greenhouse or cold frame. I've been moving one gallon and threesome potted roses up next to the ends from the adjacent staging area. This allows me to easily move them inside even if it snows where I sort them by their supposed variety (supposed because I cant be sure until they bloom which they probably wont do til they are older).

Below is a picture inside the cold frame. One gallons are repotted into threesomes (three rooted cuttings of the same variety (I hope) being grown together in a single pot) and the threesomes are placed in close proximity down the center aisle. When we close up the cold frame around New Years the remaining one gallons will go in the boxes on either side.

This last picture shows the staging area next to and just below the cold frame.

We grow plants to sell at our plant sale. Read my notes on the zone hardiness numbers I use. Do we do mail order? Check my picture-newsletter Want to purchase? email me. As pictures are taken of the flower, foliage and fruit of this plant, they will be placed on top of this picture in a collage with a date.
